Memory Houses: Reading at Art on the Trails

The Beals Preserve in Southborough Massachusetts runs a lovely annual Art on the Trails program. Sculpture proposals are selected in the spring and installed at the Preserve, then the call goes out for ekphrastic poetry -- poems written in response to the artwork. I'm honored that my poem "Memory Houses", inspired by Charles Smith's ceramic sculptural grouping "Where We Never Wander" was included in 2024 Art on the Trails anthology, and received one of the three notable prizes awarded by Poetry Juror Adele Evershed. Many thanks to Art on the Trails program director Catherine Weber, and also to my new literary friend Christine Lawrence Erickson (whose work is also included in the 2024 Art on the Trails anthology) for shooting this wonderful video.

You can order the beautiful anthology, with full color photos of the artwork alongside their related poems, from Art on the Trails: https://artonthetrails.com/
